“Outstanding learning experience! Mike the pilot was exceptional in the classroom instruction and flight. We flew around 800 feet over Los Angeles demonstrating in flight controls and maneuvers allowing me to make adjustments while Mike maintained control. This followed by runway hovering practical instruction with me trying to keep the helicopter in position. Would recommend Star Helicopters to anyone wanting a great flying experience.”

Hi Michael, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! It sounds like you learned so much and we are so glad it turned out to be an outstanding learning experience. I will be sure to let Mike know you enjoyed learning how to fly a helicopter with him. We hope you have an absolutely wonderful rest of your week! Kindest, Kelsey
“I very much enjoyed the helicopter lesson run by Star Helicopters. They were very responsive and accommodating with the booking and friendly and courteous throughout the experience. My pilot and instructor was Michael Ajalat. Mike was very thorough and professional both in the classroom and flight training. This might otherwise have been a five-star rating had it not been for the following. I think that the actual flight time of 30 minutes is very short, especially when compared to the airplane flying lesson that is offered by Cloud 9. In that lesson, the flight time is 45 to 60 minutes with a price that is $175 less than the helicopter lesson. The second issue is that we hovered at our liftoff area for 10 minutes waiting for tower clearance, which shortened my flight time to 20 minutes. I should think there is some way to get clearance before lifting off so that this doesn’t happen. Like I said, otherwise this was a a very enjoyable experience.”
Response from Cloud 9 Living
Hi Lou, Thank you so much for taking the time to share this experience with us. I want to apologize that you feel your Learn to Fly was not long enough, 30 minutes does seem short when compared to some of our longer Learn to Fly an airplane experiences, however we hope that you do take into account how different the two types of aircrafts are.  Rotary-wing aircrafts, helicopters, has a lot more moving parts than a fixed-wing aircraft, so they require more fuel than airplanes to stay aloft. More fuel increases the cost of operation. As for hovering, it is a defining characteristic of a helicopter, making it the most important maneuver to master in flight training. For safety, all aircrafts must receive a final clearance from the tower before taking off as things are changing every second in the air. For helicopters this requires some time hovering, and unfortunately during your flight it took 10 minuets to receive the final go-ahead from the tower. A frustration that pilots are very used to themselves.  Aside from those disconnects, we are so glad that you had such a great experience with our flight school, they definitely are the best at what they do and I will let Mike know you enjoyed his instruction. Regards, Cloud 9 Living Team
“I went today with my husband since it was his birthday and our wedding anniversary. The staff was nice, but they had a huge mistake. I paid 575 dollars for him to learn how to fly a helicopter and for me to be on the ride with him, with the pilot as well. When we got there, the pilot told us we had the small helicopter which was only for my husband and him. I asked him, I thought I was going to the helicopter as well, and he even joked about it. So I was very frustrated to buy something that was not what I had in mind. They left, and I had to wait for approximately 35-40 minutes. I asked the person who was inside, and she told me it was the pilot's fault. I preferred just to get the refund for me which was 200 dollars. And just went outside because I was pretty sad and frustrated. When the pilot and my husband arrived, I was very upset that I couldn't share the experience with him. They transformed a fantastic experience that I'd had in mind into something really disappointing. I would have expected for them to tell me that for the 200 dollars more, they would give me the experience that I had bought. But they didn't, just offered that if I booked again, they could make a discount. They made my day, and my wedding anniversary, the worst that I've had. Oliver (my husband) had an amazing experience, but for me it was not what I imagined thanks to the helicopter company's mistakes. The experience from your Cloud 9 Living service, though, was amazing --- best attitude and best customer service when booking for it. Thank you.”
